The song “Ragtime Annie” for guitar is for sale as a download and comes in both tab and music notation.

“Ragtime Annie” is a fiddle tune whose exact origin is unknown. The tune’s title would suggest that it was probably composed between 1890 and 1920, considered the heyday of the Ragtime era in America. 78 recordings of the piece started showing up in the 1920’s by the likes of Charlie Poole among many others. It’s still popular among many fiddle players, so it’s a good tune to have in your “mind’s file cabinet” ready to go.

This arrangement is in the “EZ” category for flatpack guitar. It’s written in the key of C, but when you play it with a fiddle or mandolin player, you must capo at the second fret as all fiddle players know it in the key of D.

This rendition sticks to mostly quarter notes, with a few eighth notes “here and there.” The idea being that fiddle players who know this piece inside and out will play it at a fast swing clip…thus, you will be glad to have a version that gives you the ability to keep up with these hard driving swing fiddlers!
