Ragtime Guitar Duet “Desert Bloom Rag”

$3.00

Description

“Desert Bloom Rag” is an original guitar duet written by Jeff Belding. It makes use of a common ragtime compositional tool incorporating a repeated 3-note motif in 8th notes. These 3 notes are repeated over two measures, finally resolving at a pause on a couple of quarter notes. You can hear this kind of phrasing in tunes like “Maple Leaf Rag” and “Dill Pickle Rag.” Even Glenn Miller’s swing tune “In the Mood” uses this kind of phrasing.

The tune can have various musical benefits for the guitar student.  One is fretting hand position playing and shifting. Another is keeping good solid metronomic time. As a guitarist you can use the licks from this piece for phrases in your own solos. It is also a great exercise for bass – strum rhythm guitar accompaniment.

The download comes with both the music notation and the tablature and is in “lead sheet” format with the chords written above the melody. A performance is here.
